Artist Blog 10: Haribaabu Naatesam

"Ever wondered what happens to obsolete walkmans and out-of date video tapes? To blunt saw blades and to dead cell phones. To ancient floppy discs and fused light bulbs? What happens to what we generally call ‘scrap’? Just because they have out-lived their use, do they deserve to be forgotten away in attics, thrown into bins? Or, just piled up in one corner of a scrap yard?" - Haribaabu Naatesam

Haribaabu Naatesam puts the old, and used into a respected piece of art. He transforms found broken objects and creates a new form to function in an eye catching way. His materials coud be anything from an old iPod to a guitar hero guitar he will create art for the world. Naatesam says his phyilosophy is to try and enfluence people to reuse their old parts in a productive way.

In this particular piece it looks like a trolly, but a Dr. Sues trolly with the crazy instruments. This could also look like a yellow submarine. There are several geometric shapes. This piece is made out "e-wast" the electronic gadgets that get thrown away. The colors all complement each other well. It looks like he spray paints his hart work after he places it to the wall.

Personally i like the cute little sea horse. The color to me is quite interesting. It looks like the pieces have been tainted, it looks like a natural wearing to the mechanics. The seahorse is well put together and representational to an actual seahorse. The way you can see all the gagets mixed into the art work is very cool and interesting. There are a lot of geometric shapes that create the seahorse, like his tummy.
