Artist Blog 14: Haroshi

Haroshi is a young Japanese artist who creates amazing sculptures out of recycled skateboard decks. Haroshi is taking a used to be functional skateboard and turning them into a piece of art.  These sculptures are incredibly entertaining to look at and annualize. Haroshi's craftsmanship is absolutely stunning. From sharks to apples he has created a new art to skateboarding.
By stacking and compressing skateboards together it creates beautiful lines in the sculptures. These lines remind me of rings in trees. Haroshi has created a new way to make art out of Mother Nature. What draws me into his sculptures are the cool colors and the random designs they create. The amount of detail that is put into these sculptures are incredible. When looking at the Nike sneakers you can see the cushion on the heel. The shoes look like they could be comfortably warn to walk in. His artwork is very hip and modern and are geared toward todays generation. It seems to me that the sculptures that Haroshi makes would be liked by skateboarders, like skarkes, shoes, Mario, feet. These are all objects I have noticed that skateboarders tened to like.
