Artist Blog 16: Dane Lovett

Dane Lovett is a realistic panter. His work consists of flowers, video tapes, cds, and a keyboard. He adds the flowers into these devices and gives them a more naturalistic feel. When looking at technologie you think how it is man made and un natural. Lovett adds flowers into his paintings giving technology more of a natural feel. What I see from his work is how nature and tecnologie can live in harmony together.

His art work is actually quite beautiful. I find a sense of peace and isolation in his work. From what it looks like Lovett creates his image in person then transfers it to paper by using water and oil paints. His model is placed in a site-specific isolated environment full of open space white space. This attracts the viewers attention directly to the work of technology and flowers. My favorite is the keyboard with what appears to be lavender attached. The colors and the concept are what make it attractive to me as a viewer. Lovett focuses on color and shading when painting. His art is very modern. I believe this because of the texture his painting gives off.
